Run the IIT Bombay campus — once a year, traffic-free.
IITBHM is India’s campus half marathon: a rare chance to race inside the 550-acre IIT Bombay grounds at Powai, away from the traffic, noise, and pollution of a typical Mumbai road race. The course sits among hills and green cover, flanked by Powai and Vihar lakes — a start line most runners only see from the highway.
The 8th edition, on Sunday 25 October 2026, is themed Stride for Sustainability. It brings together first-timers, students, elite runners, and IIT alumni on the same chip-timed course. Over eight editions, more than 35,000 runners have crossed this start line.

The race is affiliated with the Mumbai Suburban District Athletics Association and is listed as a qualifier for major national running events.

Ages, cut-offs & timing
Who can run, and how the clock works.
Minimum ages are counted on race day: 8 years for 5K, 14 years for 10K, and 18 years for 21.1K. A parent or legal guardian must register any minor and accept the terms. Government photo ID is required at bib collection for age checks.
Cut-offs are 60 minutes (5K), 100 minutes (10K), and 200 minutes (21.1K). Support on course is planned to those limits. Timing is chip-timed, mat-to-mat. Digital finisher certificates go to runners who finish inside the cut-off. Open-category trophies for men and women are announced on race day; age-category winners are declared about a week later. Special prizes are listed for boys and girls aged 8 and above.

IIT Alumni Connect entries add a customised collar T-shirt (GSM 160+), an IIT Alumni cap, and an IIT Alumni bottle or sipper. Extra alumni goodies may be added closer to race day.

23 IITs. One run. One legacy.
For the first time, IITBHM 2026 invites alumni from all 23 IITs through theIIT Alumni Connect Run — a curated path in the same 5K, 10K, and 21.1K distances. Any alumnus or alumna of any IIT can register.
Alumni Connect has its own leaderboard in each distance, alumni-only kit extras, and separate top-3 open trophies for men and women. It is a campus return as much as a race: reconnect, run the lakes, and share one start line.

- Complete payment. Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Collect your bib in person (or via an authorised representative with a written consent letter) and bring government photo ID.
Race day
Facilities, bibs, and campus rules.
IITBHM race days are built for a closed campus field: medical assistance and ambulances near the start and along the route, physiotherapy support in the holding area, hydration stations, route markers, a secure baggage counter, and pay-and-park around campus. Organisers are not responsible for loss of belongings or for parking — leave valuables at home.
Follow course marshals. Bibs do not transfer. There are no refunds after registration, including if weather or safety forces a change. Participants run at their own risk and should be medically fit. Exact expo hours and wave times are posted on the registration page closer to 25 October.

IIT Bombay Half Marathon questions
IITBHM 2026, the 8th edition, is on Sunday 25 October 2026 at the IIT Bombay campus in Powai, Mumbai. The published start window is 5:00 am IST onwards.
Three chip-timed categories: 5K (Save the drop), 10K (Protect the flow), and 21.1K half marathon (Preserve the Blue). Register for one distance. IIT alumni of any of the 23 IITs can also enter through the IIT Alumni Connect Run in the same distances.
Published fees are ₹1,200 for 5K, ₹1,400 for 10K, and ₹1,600 for 21.1K (all inclusive of the standard kit). Confirm the live amount on the official Fitizen India registration page before you pay — IIT Bombay student and alumni discounts may apply with a valid ID.
