About the event

The IIT Bombay Half Marathon has become a beloved event for the running community, casual runners, and families alike. Since its inception in 2017, over 20,000 participants have joined us in this celebrated Mumbai marathon.

We are thrilled to announce the 6th Edition of the IIT Bombay Half Marathon 2024! Organized in collaboration with Fitizen India Sports Events, IIT Bombay Aavhan, and the Sports Team, this event promises an unparalleled running experience.

  • Pay and Park Facility: Convenient parking options around the IIT Bombay campus.
  • Transportation Service: Battery car service from IIT Powai’s main gate to the holding area.
  • Secure Baggage Counter
  • Medical Assistance: Medical counters and ambulances strategically placed near the start point and along the route.
  • Physiotherapy Support: Physio counters inside the holding area to aid runners before and after the race.

There are NO Early bird offers available to the participants.

Can I register manually (offline)?

Is there a minimum/maximum age for participants?

The minimum age limit is:

  • 8 years for 5 Kms
  • 14 years for 10 Kms
  • 18 years for half marathon

What's the start time of the race?

Are there any cash prizes?

There are no cash prizes. The winners will be felicitated with mementos.

  1. Age Categories:
  • 5km Distance: Open to participants 8 years and older (born on or before October 26th, 2016).
  • 10km Distance: Open to participants 14 years and older (born on or before October 26th, 2010).
  • 21km Distance (Half Marathon): Open to participants 18 years and older (born on or before October 26th, 2006).
  1. Race Timing: Timing will be recorded on a Mat-to-Mat basis. Your timing starts and stops when you cross the start and finish lines.
  2. Registration Deadline: Registrations will close on October 12th, 2024, at 11:59 PM, or when the maximum limit of running places is filled, whichever is earlier.
  3. Age Verification: Participants must upload or submit a copy of their ID proof for age verification.
  4. Discount for IIT Students: Discounted prices are available only for existing IIT Bombay students with a valid student ID card. Uploading the student ID card is mandatory to avail of the discount.
  5. Non-Transferable BIB: The BIB allotted to the participant is non-transferable. Requests for cancellation and refunds will not be entertained.
  6. Post-Race Refreshments: Snacks and refreshments will be provided to all participants after the race. It is compulsory to show your BIB to collect snacks.
  7. Finisher Medals: Finisher medals will be given to each participant in all distance categories after finishing the race. It is compulsory to show your BIB to collect the Finisher Medal.
  8. E-Certificates:- Participants can download E-certificates as soon as they are available on the website post-event.
  9. Event Modifications:- The event organizer reserves the right to modify the date, venue, distance, race start time, and any other changes related to the event at any given point in time.

Standard Terms and Conditions of Service (TACS) for IIT Bombay Half Marathon 2024

  1. Event Registration:
    • Choose your event category carefully. Confirmed registrations are non-refundable, non-transferable, and cannot be modified.
    • Provide a secure email ID and mobile number for regular updates. These communications should not be treated as spam, and no action should be taken against our bulk SMS service provider.
    • Any notice sent to the email address registered with the organizers shall be deemed received by the participants.
  2. Acknowledgment of Risks:
    • You acknowledge that long-distance running is an extreme sport and can be injurious to the body and health. You take full responsibility for participating in IITBHM2024 and release IIT Bombay, Fitizen India Sports Events, the organizing committees, and their members from any liability for injury or accident.
  3. Personal Information:
    • You agree that your personal information can be stored and used by the organizers for event organization, promotion, administration, and statistical purposes.
  4. Event Modification or Cancellation:
    • In the event of adverse weather conditions, major incidents, threats, or force majeure restrictions, the organizers reserve the right to stop, cancel, or postpone the event.
    • Confirmed registrations and merchandise orders are non-refundable and non-transferable. The organizers reserve the right to reject any application without providing reasons. Only rejected application fees will be refunded in full (excluding bank charges).
  5. Health Advisory:
    • Participants are advised to eat a healthy meal and avoid alcohol the night before to prevent dehydration.
  6. Behavioral Conduct:
    • Participants should not cause distress or harm to others, including participants, organizers, staff, and service providers. The organizers reserve the right to remove anyone violating this rule and, if necessary, hand them over to authorities, with financial liability falling on the participant.
  7. Early Termination of Participation:
    • If a participant wishes to end their run prematurely or is unable to participate due to fitness issues, no return support or refund will be provided. The participant will bear any financial liability for alternate arrangements.
  8. Medical Responsibility:
    • Participants must follow organizer instructions and bear all expenses arising from medical emergencies or conditions.
  9. Injury and First Aid:
    • Minor injuries like cuts and bruises are common. First aid kits are provided, and coordinators are trained to respond. Organizers take reasonable steps to ensure safety.
  • Itinerary Changes:
    • Organizers may change the itinerary or cancel the event due to unexpected weather or other situations beyond control. Organizers are not liable for travel or accommodation costs incurred by participants.
  • Medical Disclosure:
    • Disclose any personal medical conditions beforehand. Organizers are not responsible for undisclosed medical issues.
  • Prohibited Activities:
    • Smoking and drinking are strictly prohibited.
  • Liability Waiver:
    • The organizers are not liable for any loss, damage, illness, or injury resulting from event participation. They are also not responsible for damage to personal belongings or vehicles.
  • Parking Restrictions:
    • No parking is available inside or outside IIT Bombay premises. Parking is at the participant’s own risk.
  • Rule Violations:
    • Participants violating rules will be removed without a refund.
  • E-Certificates:
    • E-certificates will be provided to participants who complete the course within the cut-off timings.
  • Finisher Medals:
    • Medals will be awarded to participants who complete the course.
  • Baggage Policy:
    • Participants are advised to come without baggage and avoid leaving valuables in stored bags. Organizers are not responsible for loss of baggage or belongings.
  • Timing Bib Tag:
    • Participants must not interchange their timing bib tag with others. Doing so will result in disqualification from the event and future events.
    • Participants must wear the timing bib tag as instructed to receive an official finish time, medal, and e-certificate.
  • Bib Requirement:
    • Participants must wear the bib (chest number) at all times during the race.
  • Minor Participants:
    • If registering on behalf of a minor, you confirm that you are the parent/guardian and consent to their participation. All rules apply to minors as if they were adults.
  • Bib Collection:
    • Participants must collect their running bibs in person. Bibs can be collected by a representative with written consent from the registered participant.
